Minutes of Debriefing Meeting - Friday, Sept 14, 2007
Kanuga Conference Center, Hendersonville NC
12 were present: Chad and Lyte O’Shea, Russell Heiland, Ed and Erin
Kosak, James and Leah King, Allison Mann, Teny Rule Fisher, Charles
Fisher, Sheryl Finch, Terrence Padgett
All felt the retreat was a rousing success. Final registration numbers
were not known at this time but we did know that the full-paid,
on-site registration number was over double the previous year.
Verbal comments shared during the week and this morning, were very
positive and uplifting.
Suggestions were made in having a discount for early registration in 2008.
This was followed by a discussion around cutoff dates, different rates,
and obtaining more rooms in the lodge for 2008. It was felt that
attendance will increase considerably due to the presence of Bishop
Spong. Decisions made were the following:
- The pricing for the early-bird special, would be the cost of this years
retreat ($395 for double-occupancy, $485 for single). The cutoff
date for this cost would be July 15
- The price would go up $50 after July 15
- Registration for full-time commuters would begin on July 15th. Day-to-day sales
would not be available until after August 15th. When
available, the price for day-to-day sales will be $65 per day
- The price for full-time commuters would begin at $125 and go up $50
after August 15th
- There will be a $50 discount, from the full-price, for Unity ministers
outside of the UMMAS area
- The cost for UMMAS ministers and partners will remain at $100 per
person. The cost would go up to $150 after July 15
There was a motion to offer any UMMAS Minister or Spiritual Leader a $100
stipend, one time per calendar year, towards attending either the
February or May meetings. The motion was voted on and approved.
Suggestions for continuous improvement on the Kanuga Retreat were:
- Place the day and time of the Love Offering in a prominent place, via the
flyer and during registration in the foyer.
- Ask Bill and Cher Holton to lead the opening night activities again
- Have more chocolate available
- Look into the possibility of improving the Sound system
- Schedule workshops with high energy after lunch
- Place hours for waterfront rentals on schedule
- Correct directions coming to Kanuga from I-26 west
- Make the length of the workshops either one or 2 hours long
- Send out more communications about the retreat for promotional purposes
- Have a drumming circle one night in place of Vespers
It was noted by Chad that if you are interested in becoming part of the
Executive Team for UMMAS, when officer positions are changed at the
February meetings, contact Joel Blackford at 404-520-1389
Respectfully submitted,
Rev. Terrence Padgett - Secretary
