conference/and ministry.
Leadership Training for 2008
The Leadership training dates were set for July 10-11. There was discussion
around having two trainings: one around a "nuts and bolts" training
for board leadership; a second around Gary Simmons "Integral Leadership and
Church Development." Also discussion around "music programs" and
music training as part of the leadership training, as was done last year.
It was decided to invite Barbara OHearne to present in Greenville, SC in
May (dates to be determined (for the record, it became May 15-16)).
And, invite Gary Simmons to present in July. Doug Worth will call Deb Olive in
Raleigh, NC, and see if she is willing to host the July training (she was and
is).
A motion to approve Bill and Cher Holton as the presenters for the leadership
training in 2009 was approved.
Kanuga Retreat
There was a motion to clarify and change a previous decision from the
business meeting of Feb. 2007 in Myrtle Beach.
The motion: Any Unity minister or Spiritual Leader of a Unity church, or
any Unity minister living in the UMMAS region, pays $100 for themselves and $100
for their spouse/partner, to attend the Kanuga retreat.
The requirement to teach a workshop at the Kanuga retreat is that the
prospective presenter must attend either the February or May
business meeting of said year.
The motion was approved.
There was discussion around topics to present to Bishop Spong, for his
consideration, on his 3 workshop slots and Keynote address. The program director
will direct these options to Bishop Spong.
The title for Kanuga 2008 was agreed upon: "Freedom, Fun, and Faith: A
Mountaintop Experience"
The dates for the 2009 Kanuga retreat are September 14-18. The 3rd week in
September was picked as to not conflict with World Day of Prayer week, and will
be a top consideration for the future.
Respectfully submitted:
Rev. Terrence Padgett
Secretary, UMMAS
